Rhys “Jonesy” comes all the way from Wales; a keen skateboarder from a young age he could be found skating around the mean streets of his home town Cardiff.

Rhys first strapped a snowboard on his feet in 1996 at his local Dry Ski Slope where he thought it would be like skateboarding on snow (plastic).

That same year a school trip to Andorra got him fully hooked, and over the following years many trips to the mountains and a few season later Rhys knew where his life was heading.

It wasn’t until 2005 that Rhys decided to gain his SBINZ qualifications and has been teaching back to back seasons all over the globe ever since.  Rhys spends NZ winters at Coronet Peak, Queenstown and can also be found enjoying the powder, parks and sunshine in Lake Tahoe California where he works as a trainer.
