Ski School Manager, Cardrona.
Kirsty was introduced to skiing at a really young age and has great winter holiday memories of skiing on Mt Ruapehu at Whakapapa. She developed what some might call an unhealthy obsession with the sport during high school. The advent of the American J-1 Student Visa pulled her through university as she was able to spend her ‘summer holidays’ in the winter playgrounds of North American ski resorts.
Her idea of an illustrious academic career was very short-lived as she packed her bags in pursuit of the endless winter as soon as she graduated in 2004. On her search she has worked and played at some of the most amazing resorts in the world in the USA, Canada, Europe and of course NZ.
Kirsty has jumped through the certification hoops of the NZSIA and PSIA systems and became fully qualified in both in 2006. She became an NZISA examiner in 2008 and in the same year she took up a management position at Cardrona, which opened up another interesting side of the Snowsports industry to her.
In a previous life Kirsty was an aquatic mammal of some sort, and the genetic throwback is that in this life she spends pretty much all of her non-ski time surrounded by water, whether it be swimming, snorkelling, scuba diving or rowing.
