Dean has been skiing since he saved enough paper-run money for a season pass at Treble Cone and a ride up the hill. He was about 11 years old then, hanging out in Wanaka with his parents on family holidays from his home town, Mosgiel.
Dean started an instructor training company “Rookie Academy” in 1992 after passing this NZSIA Stage 1, 1988 and NZSIA Stage 2, 1991. He then became a NZSIA examiner in 1994, former mogul’s competitor and has been instructing Southern and Northern hemisphere since 1988 with over 50 winters ski training in New Zealand, United States, Canada, Europe, Japan and China.
