About the Snowboard Division (SBINZ)

Originally a separate body to that of NZSIA, the initial SBINZ was named New Zealand’s Snowboard Instructors Association and was established in 1992. In 1996 the two organisations formed an alliance and the Snowboard Division of NZSIA was born.

Re-branding in 2006 as Snowboard Instruction New Zealand (SBINZ) the Snowboard Division is now a supportive and contributing arm of the NZSIA.

Responsible for certifying all Snowboard Instructors within New Zealand, SBINZ have become a qualifying body that is internationally renowned for producing professional, knowledgeable instructors with the capabilities to teach and ride at very high standards.

Through prominent international relationships, SBINZ have established a qualification framework that not only caters to our distinct New Zealand environment, but also prepares our instructors to teach in the many diverse cultures and conditions that we encounter whilst working overseas.

This qualification framework is constantly evolving under the guidance of the SBINZ Committee and is delivered by our highly professional examining body. The day-to-day management of these courses and qualifications is the responsibility of the Snowboard Course Director.

Whilst SBINZ, or Snowboard Division, is responsible for ensuring quality standards within its courses, the direction of the overall Alliance is conducted by the NZSIA Executive Committee.
