Dan skied as a kid, but as soon as he saw Greg Prouse tearing up Whakapapa on a snowboard back in ‘96 he saw the light. He sold his skis after the first day, and the rest is history.
Dan’s been doing back-to-back seasons ever since. He has worked in the US, Canada and Andorra before settling in France for the Northern Hemisphere winter. Down in New Zealand Dan moved to Wanaka in 1998 after 40-odd closed days the previous season at Turoa. He started training snowboarders up at Treble Cone for the Rookie Academy this same year.
Dan has been an examiner with the SBINZ since 1999. He is also a BASI Snowboard Trainer, and holds the BASI ISTD Qualification. He currently works in Tignes, France for Alliance Snowboarding; a small independent school.
