Steve Pelham

Steve PelhamSnowboard Trainer at Coronet Peak.

Steve hails from New Plymouth which is nestled under the picturesque Mount Taranaki, in the North Island, New Zealand – home of the gnarliest rope tow he’s had the pleasure of using.

Steve has always been into all sports and as a youth represented his province in a number of sports. He played National League Football and made the New Zealand youth squad, before coming disillusioned with team sports and decided to make better use of the surf highway and try his hand at this new emerging winter sport, snowboarding, the year 1994.

He finally made the transition from an office job into an instructor in 2001 when he was hired on as a Rookie at Remarkables and passed his Stage One (the pressure days riding past 8-10 Examiners while they vigorously mark you on your demos) and then his Stage Two (now called Level Three) in 2003, and joined the Examining team in 2009.

In the off season you will find him travelling, surfing, kite boarding, or snowboarding. He has been working at Mammoth Mountain in California since 2007 and also holds relevant snowboard qualifications in CASI and AASI systems. Steve is proud to be apart of the snowsports industry and enjoys passing on some of the passion and knowledge he has for our great sport.
