Aomori Spring Resort, Northern Honshu, Japan – Jobs Available for Winter 2016/17
Aomori Spring resort is a powder lover’s paradise! The resort sits on a classic volcanic mountain, Mt Iwaki, close to the Western coast in Northern Honshu, Japan. There are stunning views over the Sea of Japan and they receive lots of superb dry, powder direct from Siberia!
Facilities include a gondola, two covered high speed lifts and 2x two-seater lifts, a terrain park and an Olympic 22 foot halfpipe. The terrain is a mixture of manicured wide open groomed runs, a few steep pitches, and lots of trees. A 188 room ski-in, ski-out hotel, Rockwood Hotel, sits at the bottom of the resort and it includes an open-air onsen, bar, bistro, buffet restaurant and a gift shop.
They want to make the resort more international in feel so they need 10-12 English-speaking staff on the mountain, in the shops and restaurants. Most of the staff will be based in the hotel.
1. Although most staff will be involved in food & beverage and bar tending roles, they are looking for multi-skilled people who are able to help out in other areas. Qualifications and experience in in ski and snowboard instructing, coaching and guiding, as well as skills and experience in photography, videography and/or social media could be useful.
2. Employees will get use of a season’s pass and a daily allowance for food.
3. Housing will be provided in nearby dormitories.
4. You would need to apply for your own working holiday visa, or be legally eligible to work in Japan. More information on the working holiday visa can be found at http://www.nz.emb-japan.go.jp/visiting_japan/working_holiday_VISA_for_Japan.html . Note: you do not need to have a visa in place to apply for a job.
This could be a great opportunity if you’re a Rookie instructor wanting to get some teaching experience, but you’re happy to multi-task!
Please be aware that this resort is NOT party central! There is no village at the resort, it is about 15 minutes’ drive from the nearest town (a fishing village) and 35 minutes from the nearest city. There will not be a lot of English speaking people around, or Western food. So please only apply if you want to ski/ride lots of powder, park and pipe and have the ultimate cultural experience!
