Emilie started skiing at age 3 in Whakapapa’s Happy Valley. She spent a year persuading her parents to drive 4 hours from Auckland every weekend, and at 12 joined the Turoa Race Team.
In 2005 she started teaching skiing at Auckland’s brand new indoor slope Snowplanet. Here she discovered her love of teaching and passion for passing the sport onto others.
She continued to ski race at FIS level, retiring at 22. On the sideline she attained a degree, but it couldn’t compete with being in the mountains everyday, so she continued with the NZSIA pathway, gaining her level 3 in 2012 and becoming an Examiner in 2016.
Emilie splits her time between Aspen, where she is the Kids Lead Trainer, and New Zealand, where she works with the Rookie Academy and as a Training Team Leader at The Remarkables.
