The University of Auckland Snowsports Club (UASC) is looking for a live-in custodian for our ski lodge on Mt Ruapehu for the 2016 ski season (early July to late October).
The club lodge is situated at the top of Bruce Road right next to the entrance to the Whakapapa ski field. The lodge sleeps 32 people and is full most weekends and during university holidays. The lodge also accommodates mid-week groups such as schools, work groups and families. Therefore, strong organisational skills and the ability to deal with these various groups are essential.

As the custodian, your duties include being in charge of the general wellbeing of the lodge and making guests feel welcomed. Skills required are: stock control; budgeting; and ordering. The custodian will also need to be personable and have the ability to manage people well. The number of people being catered for on a daily basis will fluctuate; students and their guests prepare their own meals and carry out basic cleaning during their stay, but the custodian must be able to organise and motivate students to do so.

The custodian position has a weekly remuneration in addition to receiving free accommodation and food. If you are interested (or know of someone who may be interested) in being our custodian for 2016, send an email to Jack Whitfield at Please enclose a CV and cover letter including details of any experience in a similar or hospitality focused role.
