Hailing from the greatest city in the world—Auckland—Nick left it all behind and moved south to Wānaka to pursue a career as a ski instructor. What began as a way to see the world and ski mountains he couldn’t afford on a student’s part-time wage quickly became a lifelong passion.
A graduate of Cardrona’s Instructor Training Centre (ITC), Nick earned his NZSIA Level 1 and 2 certifications and kicked off a long run of back-to-back winters. He worked across Japan, Canada, and the United States, with Wānaka and Cardrona as his Southern Hemisphere base.
Bitten by the winter bug, what was supposed to be just a few seasons turned into 15 consecutive winters. During that time, Nick climbed the ranks to achieve his NZSIA Level 3 and Trainers Certification. He also completed his PSIA-W Level 3 and Trainers Accreditation while spending several seasons in Tahoe.
When COVID-19 brought global travel to a halt, Nick experienced his first summer in eight years. He used the time to complete a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Sport and Exercise Science, from the University of Auckland.
Now post-COVID, Nick splits his time between winters in Niseko and working with some of the industry’s best at ROKKIE Academy and Cardrona ITC.
