Jan comes to New Zealand from his home in Verbier every NZ winter since 2008, except for the winters 2016 and 2020 where an injury and Covid stepped in the way.
After living in the Philippines, Turkey, Albania, and Ghana and experiencing long summers, Jan has left the city-life to follow his passion for winter and the mountains.
He started his telemark journey in 2010 under the guidance of Greg and Marti when participating and completing the NZSIA Level 1. Since then he got tele-hooked and shadowed Greg and Marti during most of their courses and step by step completed all the NZSIA Telemark levels gaining NZSIA Ski Trainer Certification also.
Jan shares his knowledge of telemark and alpine skiing by coaching clients and training instructors, helping to improve their technique, challenging their comfort zone to create a feeling of success, building confidence to enjoy every moment they spend out in the mountains.
Besides NZSIA Telemark Trainer level, Jan also has NZSIA Ski Trainer Certification, Swiss Snowsports Federal Certificate and Technical Director Diploma holder.
