Tomo is a New Zealander who was brought up in Mt Maunganui, on the North Island. His pathway into the ski instructing industry also started with an apprenticeship program through the Tūroa ski school. He attributes much of his passion for freeskiing to the park and freeride terrain Mt Ruapehu offers. Despite being based in Wanaka now he spends a little time during each winter season up at Mt Ruapehu helping train instructors.
His winters are currently spent between various locations in the Northern Hemisphere including Canada, Switzerland, Japan and the USA. He believes a commitment to exploring new places with different cultures, terrain and conditions as well as keeping in touch with current leaders in the sport helps to create well rounded, capable instructors.
Tomo is an active examiner for the NZSIA and FIS qualified judge for park and pipe. He is currently working at Cardrona / Treble Cone as an instructor and trainer for the ski school and ITC.
