Role Title: Adaptive Representative
Reports to: NZSIA Board
Collaborates with: Adaptive Committee, ATC Manager, Staff & Stakeholders
Term: 2 years
Location: Remote/Southern-Lakes District with travel as required
Purpose of the Role
To lead and represent the Adaptive Division of NZSIA, ensuring its growth and alignment with NZSIA’s values and strategic goals. This role supports and enhances inclusive, high-quality adaptive snowsports instruction and advocates for accessibility across the industry.
Key Responsibilities
1. Division Oversight & Leadership
• Provide leadership for the Adaptive Division in line with NZSIA’s strategic direction.
• Engage with the Adaptive Committee to guide priorities, developments, and support needs.
• Collaborate closely with the ATC Manager to ensure effective planning, communication, and coordination of adaptive activities.
2. Stakeholder Engagement & Relationships
• Build and maintain relationships with adaptive programme stakeholders including Snow Sports NZ, ski area operators, staff, instructors, and community groups.
• Represent the Adaptive Division in internal and external forums, supporting collaboration and industry development.
3. Planning & Budgeting
• Lead annual pre-season planning and review of the Adaptive Division’s goals, course delivery, and resource needs.
• Prepare and manage the Adaptive Division budget, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and financial sustainability.
• Explore funding and partnership opportunities to support adaptive initiatives.
4. Reporting & Communication
• Report regularly to the NZSIA Board on key developments, challenges, and achievements within the Adaptive Division.
• Provide updates and feedback in collaboration with the ATC Manager and Adaptive Committee to inform governance and decision-making.
5. Instructor Support & Programme Development
• Support the professional growth and engagement of adaptive instructors through mentorship, guidance, and clear communication.
• Contribute to the development, delivery, and review of adaptive course content and training materials.
• Assist in identifying and recruiting new instructors and trainers within the adaptive space.
6. Values-Driven Advocacy
• Champion NZSIA’s values of inclusivity, professionalism, and integrity.
• Act as a voice for accessibility, innovation, and equity in all aspects of adaptive snowsports delivery.
• Promote the visibility and impact of adaptive programmes throughout the wider snowsports community.
Key Attributes and Skills
• Background in adaptive snowsports instruction, coordination, or programme development.
• Strong organisational and leadership skills with experience working in a collaborative setting.
• Sound financial understanding, including budgeting and reporting.
• Effective communicator and relationship-builder.
• Committed to equity, inclusion, and community wellbeing.
