EDI Task Force: Mission and Purpose
The mission of the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Task Force is to support NZSIA in its commitment to invest in inclusion through educational programming, women’s events, financial support, and mentoring at the local, divisional, and national levels.
The Task Force acts as an intermediary between the membership and the executive team, identifying key issues and recommending strategies for change. It collates findings, communicates, and advocates to NZSIA leadership.
The aim is for the Task Force to become the visionary steering group for creating opportunities for leadership and inclusivity in NZSIA.
Mission
- Develop appropriate and accessible channels of communication to listen to the voices of the membership and understand challenges related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as strategies for change.
- Prioritise and report key findings and recommendations to the NZSIA leadership team.
- Document the process of change within the organisation.
- Research work, projects, and strategies already underway in Snowsport Schools, snowsports organisations, and relevant sport organisations, nationally and internationally.
Values
- MANAAKITANGA – A commitment to create a welcoming, inclusive organisational culture where all members have a sense of belonging.
- STOKED TO INSPIRE & GROW – We will listen and learn about the challenges and experiences of women members and create pathways for growth.
- LEAD WITH INTEGRITY – Respect for the experiences of all members with a commitment to equity and inclusion.
- 360 SAFE & WELL – All members are always treated with respect and feel safe.
The Role and Objectives of the Task Force
The NZSIA EDI Task Force represents passionate and innovative future leaders across ski and snowboard who gather data with our membership for positive cultural change in the divisions and organisation.
Purpose
- Converse with the membership about experiences related to diversity, equity, and inclusion within the industry.
- Gather data relevant to gaps in inclusion and representation as identified by the committees.
- Propose ideas to divisional committees to promote EDI principles in snowsports instruction and leadership.
- Connect and bridge the gap between membership, committees, and board to create a more inclusive environment.
- Work with the board in alignment with the strategic direction.
- Ensure all initiatives represented by the Task Force are aligned with the NZSIA EDI strategy.
Keen to Get Involved?

- Ability to demonstrate a commitment to EDI practices in past or present work experiences.
- Examples of strong organisational and communication skills.

- Transparent accountability and continuous improvement.
- Attention to underrepresented groups in the industry.
- Organisational capacity building (supporting more members into leadership roles).
