NZSIA is entering a key phase of its governance evolution. As the organisation transitions from an operational board to a more strategic, governance-led model, we are seeking an experienced independent director with strong governance capability to further strengthen the Board.
This is an appointed position, designed to bring additional independence, expertise, and leadership to support NZSIA through its next stage.
About the role
Over the next 12–18 months, the Board will be focused on a governance reset, including the successful appointment and support of a new General Manager, and strengthening its strategic oversight.

We are seeking candidates with:
- A clear understanding of roles and responsibilities at governance board level.
- Proven board-level governance experience, ideally across multiple organisations
- Strong financial capability, including the ability to interpret financial performance, risk, and sustainability
- Experience contributing at a governance level to legal, regulatory, or compliance environments
- A track record of contributing to governance maturity and board effectiveness
- Experience supporting or overseeing senior executive leadership (e.g. CEO/GM)
- Previous Chair or committee leadership experience is highly regarded
Board-level experience of particular interest in:
- Legal, compliance and risk oversight
- Technology and digital innovation, particularly where it supports organisational efficiency, member experience, or future growth
What you will bring:
- Independent thinking and sound judgement
- The ability to operate at a strategic level, with a clear understanding of the governance vs management boundary
- Confidence to contribute, challenge, and support robust Board discussions
- A collaborative approach and commitment to continuous improvement
- A genuine affinity for the purpose of NZSIA and the role it plays in the snowsports community
